Northwest of the township of Vernon rests this lake. Fishermen hail the lake as having some of the best catches in the area. Mother Nature offers dozens of summer activities in this area.
Lake Okanagan + My Favorites
The largest of a chain of five lakes in the Thompson-Okanagan region, Lake Okanagan supports a variety of activities from houseboating to waterskiing. Houseboats can be rented for extended touring around the lake, and fishing is a popular pastime with the water full of rainbow trout, carp and ling cod. Be careful of Ogopogo - the Lochness monster of Lake Okanagan. With a water temperature that reaches 24 degrees Celcius in the summer, and 320 km (100 miles) of shoreline, visitors should not forget their swimming suits.
Swan Lake + My Favorites
One of Vernon's most popular lakes, Swan Lake is used by locals and tourists alike. Visit Swan Lake for lakeside camping, birdwatching and a variety of watersports. A rowing centre is also located at the lake.

Vernon Lake + My Favorites
This gorgeous lake is nestled in the stunning Nimpkish Valley, 6 km (4 mi) west of Vernon and 25 km (15.5 mi) southeast of Woss. With a sandy beach, good trout fishing, a boat launch and large campsite, Vernon Lake is a popular holiday spot. Address: Vernon Lake Road | Vernon, BC
Kalamalka Lake and Provincial Park + My Favorites
The provincial park surrounding Kalamalka Lake is a treasure of trove of outdoor activities that typify the Okanagan's popularity, from watersports to camping, birdwathing to cross-country skiing. Ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir abound in the area, and wildflowers bring a profusion of colour to the otherwise green and brown environment. There are nature trails throughout. Mabel Lake Provincial Park + My Favorites
Mabel Lake Provincial Park is worth the 60km (37mi) drive from Vernon with a pristine lake and towering mountains. Off the main road, this park is usually quiet but is complete with many amenities including, but not limited to, camping (with bathrooms and running water), playground, swimming, boat launch, biking and hiking trails. This lake sits just east of the township of Vernon. All sorts of aquatic activities are offered in the vicinity. This lake offers fishermen an ecosystem rich with fish.
